OUR MISSION

We raise awareness about diabetes through education, screenings, and prevention programs. We support individuals living with diabetes and work to reduce its prevalence through service, kindness, and action.

 

Together, we can stop diabetes before it starts.

More than 1 in 3 adults in the U.S. has prediabetes—and 80% don’t know it. Diabetes is preventable and manageable with early action, healthy habits, and community support.

Why It Matters

  • 88 million Americans have prediabetes
  • Over 34 million Americans live with diabetes
  • 1 in 2 seniors have prediabetes
  • Medical costs for people with diabetes are more than twice as high as for those without

Prediabetes often leads to type 2 diabetes, but it doesn’t have to. Early lifestyle changes can make all the difference.

Risk Factors for Type 2 Diabetes

  • Being overweight
  • Age 45 or older
  • Family history
  • Physical inactivity
  • Gestational diabetes history
  • Certain racial/ethnic backgrounds

You can prevent or delay type 2 diabetes with healthy eating, regular activity, and small weight loss.

Common Symptoms of Diabetes

  • Frequent urination
  • Excessive thirst or hunger
  • Fatigue
  • Blurry vision
  • Slow-healing sores
  • Numb or tingling hands/feet

Talk to your doctor if you experience any of these symptoms. Early diagnosis is key.

Managing Diabetes

Maintenance & Care

If diagnosed, managing diabetes includes:

  • Taking medications as prescribed
  • Regular blood sugar checks
  • Eating balanced meals
  • Staying physically active
  • Managing stress

For Expecting Mothers

Gestational diabetes can occur during pregnancy and may increase risk of developing type 2 diabetes later in life. Your doctor should test for it between 24-28 weeks.

Youth & Diabetes

Type 2 diabetes is rising in children. Parents can help prevent it by:

  • Encouraging active play
  • Modeling positive lifestyle habits
